An adjuvant in the treatment of obesity, as it reduces appetite by absorbing water in the gastrointestinal tract, causing a feeling of fullness as the fibers expand. One particle of Konjac powder consists of very long thread-like macromolecules entangled with each other. Upon contact with water, water molecules penetrate into the chain and are absorbed, gradually causing the particles to swell, increasing their volume up to 200 times, turning the powder into a viscous liquid.

Pharmacological action Esbeltex Konjac:

• Appetite suppressing effect: as soon as fiber comes into contact with gastric fluid, it swells, increasing its size several times (the average tablet volume increases from 1 ml to 12 ml in 10 minutes), causing a feeling of fullness.
• Hypoglycemic effect: after ingestion, the fibers turn into a highly viscous gel, which reduces the rate of absorption of food in the small intestine, which leads to a decrease in blood glucose and therefore insulin levels.
• Laxative effect: There are several theories about the laxative mechanism of fibers. The increase in the content of the colon decreases the transit time in the colon; thus, water absorption is reduced, which reduces stool consistency.

Esbeltex tablets have also been effective in reducing weight in overweight patients.
