How to take the medicine

For muscle spasms, the drug is taken twice a day. The drug is injected into the muscle, or into a vein. The optimal daily dosage is 100 mg.

For parkinsonism, the drug is taken orally, three times in 24 hours. The optimal dosage is 50 mg.

Overdose

The main signs of overdose are:

  • painful sensations in the lower abdomen;

  • decreased appetite;

  • nausea, which turns into vomiting;

  • the pallor of the skin.

As a consequence of a 1-time overdose, hepatic cell necrosis is likely to develop. This process may be reversible or irreversible.

In case of overdose, the victim requires immediate medical attention. The use of activated charcoal is possible. Additionally, symptomatic therapy is carried out.

What adverse reactions occur

Frequent adverse reactions are observed on the respiratory organs. For example, a person may complain of nasal congestion.

Some people complain of increased intraocular pressure: they get a feeling that their eyeballs are "bulging". This condition is sometimes combined with intracranial pressure. Their vision becomes blurred, and they feel as if something is floating in front of their eyes.

Sometimes nystagmus or mydriasis occurs.

Adverse reactions from the skeletal and neuromuscular systems may occur. The person complains of severe weakness in the muscles, and sometimes his hands or feet begin to tremble. The tremor may be accompanied by general weakness and mild nausea.

Some patients experience hypersensitivity reactions:

  • skin itching;

  • urticaria;

  • sneezing (rare).

Quincke's edema, an extremely dangerous condition requiring urgent medical attention, is also possible.

In 30-40% of cases, patients complain of problems with the genitourinary system. For example, older people may experience urinary retention.

Gastrointestinal problems may also occur in older people. Some older patients complain of mild nausea, which sometimes combines with dizziness, or turns into vomiting. Irritation of the stomach may occur. Problems with stools - such as constipation - also occur.

Norflex may also have a negative effect on the CNS. Some people complain that they have a headache after taking the medicine. Younger people become more agitated and irritable. Older patients complain of drowsiness. In severe cases, consciousness becomes confused and hallucinations appear.

Less often the drug affects the heart: patients complain of increased heartbeat.

Additional information

Due to the fact that Norflex Plus can cause dizziness and drowsiness, you should not drive after taking it. Also, do not engage in activities that require rapid psychomotor reactions and increased concentration.

If a patient takes barbiturates, anticonvulsants, and diuretics, he should get additional advice from his doctor.

The drug should be stored in the original package, in a cool and dry place out of the reach of sunlight and children and pets. The optimum temperature for storage is + 25 degrees Celsius.
