Concerta use and effects on the body 

Concerta is used to treat attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children 6 years of age and older when other treatments are not effective enough. Treatment is conducted under the supervision of a physician who has experience with childhood behavioral disorders. Therapy is aimed at stabilizing ADHD, which is characterized by:

• Nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infections, sinusitis.
• Anorexia, decreased appetite, a moderate decrease in body weight gain.
• Cardiovascular system disorders: arrhythmia, tachycardia, palpitations, increased blood pressure.
• Hypersensitivity reactions, such as angioedema, anaphylactic reactions, ear edema, bullous reactions, skin flaking, urticaria, itching, skin rash, and eczema;
• Upper abdominal pain is the most common complaint among children.

In patients who have not previously received methylphenidate, the dose should be adjusted individually, starting with the lowest possible dose based on treatment efficacy and tolerability assessment.

The recommended starting dose of Methylphenidate Concerta is 10 mg/day, which can be increased by 10 mg/day every 7 days if necessary. The total daily dose should be administered in 2 doses and taken in the morning and at noon. Continue treatment with the lowest effective dose. The maximum daily dose depends on the patient's body weight and should not exceed 1 mg/kg body weight; however, due to limited data from clinical trials on the use of doses >80 mg/day, the dose should not exceed 80 mg/day. Discontinue the drug if there is no improvement after one month of treatment.
