Modiodal is a psychoanaleptic used in the treatment of cataplexy, narcolepsy, and excessive sleepiness. The drug maintains wakefulness in situations where the patient is plagued by unwanted excessive sleepiness and falling asleep.
The action of the drug is manifested by an increase in histamine levels. The main component affects the neurotransmitter system of the brain. As a result, a reaction occurs, which is similar to an allergic reaction. Stimulates the improvement of thinking and attention when dealing with large flows of information.
You should start taking the drug with 200 mg. Take the daily dose in the morning or divide it into two times: in the morning and at noon. If the initial therapy did not give results, the dose is increased to 400 mg in one reception or in two receptions.
With long-term use, the response and effectiveness of the drug should be checked periodically under the supervision of a physician. There are no studies of long-term use of the drug. For patients with severe hepatic impairment, the drug dose should be halved. There are no data about the effect of the drug on patients with renal insufficiency. Patients over 65 should start treatment with a dose of 100 g or more. The drug is contraindicated in children. It is possible to start treatment from the age of 18 years.
The action of the drug starts after 2-4 hours. The half-life of the drug is 15 hours. There are no negative reactions after withdrawal of the drug. It does not cause addiction. Modiodal may cause side effects such as:
